H.S. Football Week 7: D Amato Leads Xavier Past Hillhouse

Pat D’Amato was 8-of-10 for 188 yards and two touchdowns as Xavier beat Hillhouse 35-7 in an SCC interdivision game at Palmer Field in Middletown.  After a scoreless first quarter, D’Amato led three touchdown drives in the second.  The senior quarterback threw for 45 and 23-yard touchdowns and ran for a 2-yard score.

Mike Mastroianni ran for 143 yards on 30 carries, including touchdowns of 20 and 8 yards.

Jovan Santos-Knox caught two passes for 59 yards and a 45-yard touchdown from D’Amato.


The Falcons (7-0) held the Academics (4-3) to under 50 yards of total offense in the game and forced three turnovers.

Andre Anderson returned an interception 102 yards for a touchdown in the loss.

CCC Div. I East

Glastonbury 37, East Hartford 0: Benjamin Berey went 14-of-21 for 209 yards and two touchdowns to lead Glastonbury over East Hartford in a CCC Div. I East game in East Hartford.

Devin O’Reilly had six receptions, 124 yards and touchdowns of 50 and 43 yards from Berey in the first half. Kevin Jack rushed for 111 yards on 15 carries for Glastonbury (6-1).

East Hartford is 2-5.

CCC Div. I West

New Britain 28, Simsbury 6: Devante Gardner ran for 113 yards and three touchdowns to lead New Britain over Simsbury in a CCC West division game.

Only up by one at halftime, New Britain (4-3) held the Trojans to 43 yards in the second half. Gardner scored touchdowns of 55 and 5 yards in the fourth quarter.

Christian Martinez rushed 17 times for 85 yards for Simsbury (2-5).

CCC Div. II East

Wethersfield 28, Bulkeley 14: Ivan Mangual ran for 185 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries as Wethersfield defeated Bulkeley in a CCC Div. II East matchup at Dillon Stadium in Hartford. 

Kevin Prempto had 5 catches for 70 yards and an 18-yard touchdown for the Eagles (3-4). 

Marquis Ball also ran for a 4-yard score in the first quarter for Wethersfield. 

Bulkeley is 1-6.
